Marmee

Hi, I'm Marmee, or Connie actually. When my daughter was in elementary school, she read Little Women and thought it was cool the girls called their mom Marmee. She started calling me that and still does. The difference is that she is now Dr. Liz, and she is in her late 30's! When choosing a name for my shop I wanted it to be personal, so I named it after me!

My Story

Growing up, an important part of my childhood was weekends when my Aunt Nadine would come to visit from Sedalia to Raytown and we would go to the Blue Ridge Mall. Having lunch out and shopping was a family event and fun for everyone. We would sometimes buy things but the most fun was trying clothes on and exploring style. I have been a clothes hound ever since, loving style and trends and trying to look cute. The "problem" was I have always been a curvy girl and most of the cutest clothes didn't come in my size.

In college I majored in Vocational Home Economics and Business. I wanted to be a teacher, became one and eventually a school counselor. I retired from Blue Springs School District in 2018. After a year I was bored silly! I had run a craft and antique business on the side for years so when a building came available to rent my husband said do it! Starting with what I knew I had antiques and gifts, but a friend came in with me and carried children's clothing. Women would say they wished this or that came in their size. I looked around and started with one rack of clothing...

Having always loved boutique clothing but also being 'too big' for those shops and getting "the look' from shopkeepers whenever I would venture in, I started looking for "my size" clothing in my markets. Guess what, they do have larger sizes in really cute, trendy clothing! I vowed to always carry fashion in all sizes for all women.

My goal is for every woman that walks into my store be comfortable and feel welcome to try anything on. Want to change your style, I'd love to help you. Want out of your comfort zone, I'd love to help you. Don't know what you want, I'd love to help you. My unique background in Home Economics, Business and Counseling has gifted me with skills to help even the pickiest dressers find something fun and unique for you! Besides I love shopping, don't you?!
